Whim Hospitality has set about distinguishing ourselves by offering unique products in a unique way.

From a wide selection of customizable event solutions to an easier party planning process with our complete line of services, Whim has innovated the events industry in Austin and surrounding areas to make our client’s special celebrations even more memorable. We offer high-touch traditional event services – catering, event and tent rentals, florals and venue management – and bring an enhanced level of communication and experience to ensure your dream event becomes a reality.
By combining so many services under one roof, Whim is able to simplify the planning process for weddings and other special events by creating a single point of contact with one, easy-to-understand invoice. Our sales team takes a collaborative approach with our clients to truly understand their vision and provide the services and products to bring amazing events to life. Our expertise and connections within the event industry also guarantee that we can work cohesively with other wedding and event vendors in a cohesive and cooperative way that makes any event run as smoothly as possible.

Our Story

In early 2012, Whim Hospitality founders, Kim and Whit Hanks, perceived a need in the burgeoning Texas Hill Country wedding and special events industry. The number of venues was growing but there were no truly local rental companies to effectively service them.

To fill this need, Whim’s first division, Whim Event Rentals, moved into a showroom and warehouse in Dripping Springs, just off of Highway 290, ideally situating Whim “just down the road” from the Hill Country’s premier venues in Dripping Springs, Wimberley, southwest Austin, Lake Travis, and Fredericksburg. Recognizing a need for an even more complete wedding and special event services experience, Whim Florals and Whim Catering joined the Whim Hospitality family in 2013.

Co-founder Kim Hanks previously worked in the special events industry as a wedding planner, where she became well-versed in the challenge of bringing together different companies – this floral designer, that caterer, this rentals company, that tent company – to create one seamless event. Through a thoughtful expansion plan, Whim grew from rentals to offer a suite of event services to create a far more stress-free experience for the client. In terms of unique products, Whim has utilized co-founder Whit Hanks’ international buying connections to bring to the rental market products not otherwise found locally, or in even nationally.

Ultimately, the Whim Hospitality company culture is defined by Kim and Whit’s family. We’ve set ourselves apart from other wedding and event vendors by creating a family of services and we are honored whenever we’re selected to participate in your family’s biggest celebrations!
